Tom Davies OBE, is appointed as Visiting Professor for Public Policy

Tom Davies OBE was recently appointed as a Visiting Professor for the Centre of Advanced Studies in Public Policy at the University of South Wales.

Tom is the Chair of Victim Support Wales and is a UK Trustee and Board Member. Tom’s other positions include being a UK Member of the Disclosure and Barring Services Board and he is also a member of the Advisory Committee of the Charity Bank in Wales.

Speaking about his recent appointment, Professor Catherine Farrell said: “We’re very keen on having Tom as part of the Centre for Advanced Studies in Public Policy. Over his career, he has made a significant contribution to ensuring fairness and developing good governance in the police service. His knowledge and expertise within Victim Support Wales and at the UK level will be important in further developing this area of work for the University.”

Tom recently retired from being the Independent Police Complaints Commissioner in Wales, where he worked for 10 years. Prior to his appointment at the University he also held positions to include Chair of the New Opportunities Lottery Board in Wales, UK Board Member of the Big Lottery Board and UK Board Member for the Independent Safeguarding Authority.

In his role as Visiting Professor, Tom will contribute at a number of levels including student talks, policy ideas and forums, seminars and conference activities.
